Mortal Kombat Brings Forth Armageddon

Team Xbox is
reporting that various
Mortal Kombat fansites have taken the wraps off of the final MK installment for the current generation. To be released in October for the current crop of consoles (excluding the 360), Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will feature 60+ combatants - potentially every single Mortal Kombat character ever. How this will be explained in storylines is unknown, but it will be quite a task.
Aside from the massive roster, MK:A will feature a Create-A-Kombatant mode, most likely similar to that of
Soul Calibur 3. No word on how the story mode will play out this time, but with all these characters the potential is exciting. Seen below is a promotional image released (also found on Team Xbox) that shows the mammoth size of the roster, though it's worth noting that it seems many characters retain outfits that they wore previously. This leads some to believe that the game will simply be a compilation of characters and the engine will be nearly identical to that of Deception. Some surprised do lurk inside however, such as what appears to be Rain in a brand new look. Being a huge fan of Mortal Kombat (especially the latest
Deception) I can't wait for this title - let's hope the great online play of last year is stepped up a notch and we get tournament play complete with players waiting in the que.
Could the warrior next to Striker be the infamous Rain?
